가브리엘 알렉산더 휴스(Gabriel Alexander Hughes, 2001년 8월 22일 ~ )는 미국의 프로 야구 투수로 콜로라도 로키스 소속이다.

아마추어 경력

휴스는 로키 마운틴 고등학교를 졸업했다. 2018년 주니어 시절, 7승 1패 승패 기록과 1.84 평균자책점 (ERA), 59 삼진을 기록했으며, 타율 .461을 기록했다. 아이다호 게토레이 야구 올해의 선수로 선정되었다.[1] 2019년 시니어 시절에는 7승 1패, 0.95 ERA, 65 삼진을 기록했으며, 타율 .365에 7개의 홈런을 쳐내며 두 시즌 연속 아이다호 게토레이 야구 올해의 선수로 선정되었다.[2][3] 그해 여름, 웨스트 코스트 리그에서 벨링햄 벨스 소속으로 뛰었다.[4] 2019 메이저 리그 베이스볼 드래프트에서 지명되지 않은 곤자가 대학교에 입학하여 곤자가 불독스 소속으로 대학 야구를 했다.

2020년 곤자가 신입생 시절, 휴스는 코로나19 범유행으로 시즌이 취소되기 전까지 13+2⁄3이닝 동안 0.77 ERA와 13 삼진을 기록했다.[5] 여름 동안 그레이트 레이크스 리조터스 소속으로 노스우즈 리그에서 뛰었다.[6] 2021년, 레드셔츠 신입생으로 10경기에 선발 출전하여 4승 3패, 3.23 ERA, 67 삼진을 61+1⁄3이닝 동안 기록했으며, 1루수로 31경기에 선발 출전하여 타율 .247에 3개의 홈런을 쳤다.[7] 그의 시즌은 타격 도중 손가락 관절이 부러져 일찍 끝났다.[8] 그해 여름, 미국 야구 대학 국가대표팀에 선발되었다.[9] 휴스는 2022 시즌을 프리시즌 올아메리칸이자 곤자가의 1선발로 시작했다.[10][11][12] 또한 이전 시즌에는 양쪽 포지션을 소화했으나, 투수에만 전념했다.[13][14] 시즌 동안 15경기에 선발 등판하여 8승 3패, 3.21 ERA, 98이닝 동안 138 삼진을 기록했다.[15] 시즌 종료 후, 샌디에고로 이동하여 드래프트 콤바인에 참가했다.[16]

프로 경력

콜로라도 로키스는 2022 메이저 리그 베이스볼 드래프트에서 휴스를 1라운드 전체 10순위로 지명했다.[17] 팀과 400만 달러에 계약했다.[18] 싱글A 캘리포니아 리그의 프레즈노 그리즐리스에서 프로 데뷔전을 치렀고, 한 차례 등판하여 3이닝 무실점을 기록했다.[19] 2023 시즌을 시작하며 휴스는 하이싱글A 노스웨스트 리그의 스포캔 인디언스로 배정되었다.[20] 6월 초, 더블A 이스턴 리그의 하트포드 야드 고츠로 승격되었다.[21] 7월에는 휴스가 토미 존 수술을 받을 예정이며, 시즌을 마감할 것이라고 발표되었다.[22] 두 팀에서 14경기에 선발 등판하여 6승 5패, 6.21 ERA, 66+2⁄3이닝 동안 83 삼진을 기록했다.[23] 휴스는 2025년 하트포드에서 다시 경기에 출전한 후 5월에 트리플A 퍼시픽 코스트 리그의 앨버커키 아이소톱스로 승격되었다.[24]

개인 생활

휴스의 할아버지 도널드는 디트로이트 타이거스 소속으로 마이너 리그에서 뛰었다.[25] 휴스에게는 5명의 형제가 있으며, 그중 4명은 입양되었다.[26]
