2025年9月9日，弗吉尼亚州第十一国会选区举行特别选举，以填补因民主党人格里·康诺利于当年5月21日逝世而出现的空缺。该选区被普遍视为民主党稳固选区。费尔法克斯县监事詹姆斯·沃金肖在初选中以59%的得票率胜出，击败艾琳·辛（英语：Irene Shin）和斯特拉·佩卡斯基（英语：Stella Pekarsky）。前联邦调查局探员斯图尔特·惠特森则在共和党初选中以39%的得票获胜。决选阶段，沃金肖的筹款额达100万美元，而惠特森仅为22.4万美元。在9月9日的决选中，沃金肖以大约50个百分点的优势击败了惠特森。

背景

时任联邦众议员格里·康诺利于2025年5月21日因食道癌去世[1]，他先前已宣布不会在2026年寻求连任。[2]康诺利自2008年首次当选，并在2024年连任后不久公开了癌症诊断结果。[3]在美国，众议院议席出现空缺必须通过特别选举填补。依照弗吉尼亚州法律，州长负责安排选举日期，各党派则自行决定提名程序。共和党籍州长格伦·扬金将特别选举定于2025年9月9日举行，候选人报名截止日为7月11日。[4]该选区位于华盛顿郊外费尔法克斯市，被视为民主党的安全席位。[5]
