Business

[edit]

Numerator is a consumer data and technology company that collects and analyzes permissioned proprietary data. The company provides insights into consumer purchase behavior and sentiment. Its data are used in sectors such as consumer goods, retail, finance , consulting, government, media, and academia.[1][2][3][4]

The company introduced a mobile-based approach to consumer panel data. Its mobile app, Receipt Hog[5], allows consumers to submit both paper and digital receipts.[6] The app also enables verified buyers users to answer survey questions.[7] Numerator uses patented data processing methods to extract and structure receipt information and applies machine learning models for data analysis.[8]

Numerator operates in the United States, Canada, and Germany.[9][10][11] In 2021, Bain Capital acquired the company from Vista Equity Partners.[12]  In 2025, Numerator combined with Worldpanel by Numerator.[13][14] Numerator is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois[15], with a secondary flagship office in London[16], and employs approximately 5,400 people (as of 2025).
