Protests against Xi Jinping

Date-20/July/2022, massive protests running against chinese president Xi Jinping and his policies. Peoples are using slogans like "Go on strike,Remove Dictator and National tratior Xi Jinping". There are many reasons behind this protest. Recently,Xi also got elected for his 3rd term

Mainly Four reasons are there for the massive protest:-

1- Getting Elected for The Third Time

2- Zero-Covid Policy

3- Chinese Social Activists

4- Political Rivals

Now, Lets understand the reasons

Getting Elected for TheThird Time

Leaders in china can only be elected twice as for example:-Hu Jinata(Former President of China) was also elected only for two times but Recently,Xi Jinping got elected for his 3rd Term. Hu Jinata was also escorted from the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party which was streamed in whole country and watched by the citizens of the country.Last Year(2021) Xi Jinping made an amendment in the law that no body could speak in opposition of Xi.He is also considered as the most influential leader of china after Mao Zadong. In 2018 he extended the term of president from 2nd to 3rd until undefined term length .He is also the most powerful politician of china and also his thoughts must be added in the constitution .Now,on 23rd october 2022 Xi got elected as the general seceratary of CCP Central Committee. Xi Jinping got elected as the general secretary of the only party in China the CCP(Chinese Communist Party). So now Let's understand that what is general secretary. CCP claims that it has 10 crore members and is one of the largest political party in the world(Biggest is Bharatiya Janata Party) now from those 10 crore, 3000 members are elected for the national party congress.Now from these 3000, 370 of the members are elected as Central Committee. Now from these 370, 25 memebrs are elected for the Politburo Committee . Now from these 25 members, 7 are elected for the Politburo Standing Committee.Now from these 7 members, 1 is elected as General Secretary who is the President of China. Now there is a twist in this system that General Secretary decides that who will be in the politburo standing committee. This means that "he elects himself by the help of himself indriectly".Now a seven members standing committee which was choose by Xi Jinping elected Xi Jinping for the 3rd time as General Secretary .President Xi also promoted several of his loyal's to the seven-member politburo standing committee,no women was into the top party lineup. These 7 members are Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi,

Zero-Covid Policy

Due to Zero-Covid Policy ,60 towns in china are still under strict lockdown there travelling is banned and are forcebily quarentine, after two years of Covid-19 the cases are still rising exponentially .In Bejing there are massive protests due to vaccine, because after using those vaccines many childrens go tinfected by diseases like Diabetes, Leukemia etc. the most uprising Protest was the Henan protest in which several peoples were protesting for the last few months as their accounts were frozen by Four of the rural banks in opposion of this chinese officials responded that these protests are lead by criminal gangs and suddenly the majority of the protesters health code got red.Now, Firstly lets understand what is healthcode. In China there is an application based system which tells the Covid status. If the code is green then the person is allowed to travel with temprature check. If it's yellow then 14 days home quarentine and if it is red then it's confirmed covid +ve .Now think how could protesters(only) helthcode got red ,this was a game played by the government to control protests.Recently,20th National Congress of the CPC held and to protect the protests Xi Government took some steps like launching "100 days operation" which started in june and more then 1.4 million people got arrested and send to detention camps across the country with the record of criminal history or abti Xi ideology without any official reason .PSU employees are also banned from travelling.

Political Rivals

Now if any activist protest's he/she is send to detention camps but some of the activists take risk again after going to jail like-Xu Zhiyong he had did many protests but the most prominent was the 2012 New Citizens' Movement in 2014 he got arrested for 4 years but again in 2019 he started protest against the government perspective of Covid-19 .Xi also escorted all the activists to a so called vacation and who refuses to go was sent to detention camps. Xi government also took a step against corruption known as "anti-corruption movement" and under this Xi systemetically removed any potetial rival, including among his supporters which led to the arrest of 1 million people.

Conclusion

His anti-corruption movement was an important instrument for Xi to get elected 3rd time, Simultaneously, Xi has brought his loyals into powerful positions both in the party and military. I think that China is moving towards dictatorial regime but we don't know more about these protests as "What happens in China is stays in China"
