Display discrepancies

[edit]

Hi, I was looking at Link light rail, specifically this version & noticed some discrepancies.

  • When not logged in & using MS Edge, I see the {{Attached KML}} template but no button link at the bottom of the window for a map.
  • When logged in as User:Peaceray & using MS Edge with the Vector Legacy (2010) skin, I see the template & a semi-transparent rectangular box towards the bottom right of the window that partly obscures the templates & categories. When I click on within the box, it then displays a map in the full window. I also see this behavior with Firefox, my main browser.
  • When logged in as User:PeacerayAsANewbie & using MS Edge with the default MinervaNeue skin, I see the template & the text Map & a clickable globe icon to the left & below the templates at the bottom. If I click on that icon, it then displays a floating frame containing the map.

As you might guess, I have PeacerayAsANewbie as an alternate account to see what newly registered editors see & to use for training them.

This is not something that particularly bothers me, but I thought that module editors might wish to know about these differences. Peaceray (talk) 18:13, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What should happen if no KML?

[edit]

Using {{Attached KML}} at Charles Street (Baltimore) gives "Lua error in Module:Attached_KML at line 197: attempt to index local 'kml_entity' (a nil value)". That article has Wikidata item Charles Street (Q2449172). The module correctly reads the item to determine that kml_qid is (Q26335260). Problem: that has been deleted so kml_qid is nil. It appears from the deletion edit summary that previously the KML was empty. Should the module test for that as it does for pcall_result? I suppose the fix for the article is to delete the line calling the template, but perhaps the module should do something different? Johnuniq (talk) 01:46, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Route map:" appears when not wanted

[edit]

Articles like M25 motorway or M11 motorway or Ohio State Route 515 or District of Columbia Route 295 or ... have at the top right the text "Route map:", which isn't clickable. Can this please be removed? Fram (talk) 16:40, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
