Template-protected edit request on 14 February 2025

[edit]

I would like to request the inclusion of the the Tranquility Calendar (which is in need of an page of its own). 50.39.228.27 (talk) 06:24, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for such an inclusion is that the template could benefit from it in the long run. 50.39.228.27 (talk) 06:26, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now: The article would need to exist first. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tranquility Calendar for a prior attempt. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:50, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request 9 July 2025

[edit]

Description of suggested change: Use Tibetan script rather than Chinese character in Tibetan calendar, see Tibetan calendar#Years and ja:チベット暦#干支.

French Republican calendar

[edit]

Hi, there are three subjects I want to bring up, from the one I feel the most strongly about to the least:

  1. years of this calendar are usually written with roman numerals. I strongly suggest using the numToRoman{} function in the line above the arabic numerals (like the gregorian calendar but the other way around);
  2. the module only converts years during which the calendar was administratively in use. Historically it began in 1793 (year II), I strongly believe the retroactive year I (1792-1973) should also be converted as decreed by the admin;
  3. I believe we should continue converting every years from 1806 onward. It stopped being used by the administrations --except the Commune in 1871-- but some activists, artists and even villages continued, some examples are seen in the calendar wikipedia article. This template shows non administrative calendars, like the discordian one, thus I believe the French one should too.

[edit]
  1. Use Roman numerals in addition to Arabic ones on the French republican calendar
  2. the first year of this French calendar should be displayed for 1792, like already done for 1793

I am not used to Lua but so feel free to check my suggestion has no obvious bugs

(just for clarity, earlier I suggested 3 changes in the template talk page, but I am not implementing the third one in this edit request)

Not done for now: I've tested it at Template:Year in various calendars/testcases#French Republican calendar tests, but there seems to be an issue with the way Module:Roman is being used here. I'm looking to see if I can fix that bug, although feel free to give it a try too! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 21:39, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at Template talk:Year in various calendars/Archive 3, there have been prior concerns about template bloat from adding calendars during years in which they were not in use, so I am not sure about implementing that edit request without further consensus. If anyone else wants to weigh in for or against the proposed changes, please do! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 21:49, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Bugs have been fixed. By the way, the change isn't so big as to require large-scale consensus, but I prefer to wait a few days in case anyone has objections – feel free to ping me in a week or so if nothing has moved by then! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 22:00, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks again for your help @Chaotic Enby. I did not know about the test cases page so your linking it was very useful to me.
I took the liberty of removing one of my remaining unfixed line of code from the sandbox, but all your fixes look great to me.
If you are still okay with it, I would appreciate you pushing the change into the main Module, please. JustinGanimard (talk) 19:48, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
