Why I contribute less to Wikipedia in other languages?
[edit]For me the answer is clear: Automatic translation.
The use of automatic translation tools is killing Wikipedia in other languages. Missing articles are being replaced by direct translations of English articles. This is problematic because automatic translation is often bad, it does not check for non-English sources, it does not check for issues in the article, and automatically translated articles have no follow-up when English articles change. Short but well sourced articles in other languages (with good sources in that language) are also being replaced by large but mostly English-sourced content from their English article counterpart. This leads to a lot of conflict with users that just find it find it to be "fine" to have more articles at the expense of quality or authenticity in the language. I give up, however if you have a physics article in Spanish that was automatically-translated and needs to be checked do not hesitate to ping me in es:Wikipedia.
