archived amp urls

[edit]

@GreenC and Harej: Hello. I wanted to ask you this a long time ago, but somehow it slipped my mind, and later I forgot about it. What should we do if IABot archives an amp url, and later KiranBOT updates that amp url? For example, this edit. —usernamekiran (talk) 23:20, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I would recommend leave the archive URL as-is. Archive URLs can get complicated and presumably the amp archive URL is working, while changing it could cause breakage. However if at some time you want to modify archive URLs let me know there is a method for checking Wayback Machine availability. -- GreenC 02:31, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
thanks. I meant, not tinkering the archived amp url, I meant more like archiving the newly updated canonical url, and replacing that with the previous (amp) archive url - as there would be discrepancy/difference between these two URLs (newly added canonical url vs archived amp url). But as the amp url is already successfully archived, I think there is no need to update it. That is my original doubt. —usernamekiran (talk) 03:52, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
