빌게이츠꽃등에

빌게이츠꽃등에(Bill Gates' flower fly, 학명: Eristalis gatesi)는 코스타리카 고유종인 꽃등에로 빌 게이츠의 이름을 따서 명명되었다.^[1] 유사한 서식지에서 발견된 다른 꽃등에는 게이츠의 동료인 폴 앨런의 이름을 따서 폴앨런꽃등에(Eristalis alleni)로 명명되었다. 이 종들을 명명한 크리스 톰프슨에 따르면, 두 이름 모두 "[그들의] 파리목 과학에 대한 위대한 공헌"을 인정하는 것이었다.^[2]^[3]
