Area codes 970 and 748 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan. It covers the western and northern parts of Colorado, including cities like Fort Collins, Grand Junction, and Durango. Area code 970 was created on April 2, 1995 as a split from 303, making it the fourth interchangeable area code after 334, 360, and 520.[1] This area was overlaid by 748 on July 7, 2025.[2]
