Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

| Submission declined on 31 January 2017 by SwisterTwister (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of web content). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by SwisterTwister 8 years ago. |

Advanced Installer is a setup packaging tool used for creating Windows installation packages such as classic Windows Installer or modern MSIX.
Features
[edit]The software comes with a wide range of features that significantly streamline the process of building and deploying setup packages including EXE, MSI, App-V and MSIX.
History
[edit]The product is developed by Caphyon[1], a Romanian software company founded in 2002. Advanced Installer first appeared in 2003 as a more user-friendly focused alternative to the existing packaging software at the time.
Advanced Installer version 2.0 was released in 2004. In the same year, Advanced Installer introduced the first two commercial editions, Java and Professional, in addition to its perpetually free edition.[2]
Advanced Installer version 4.7 was released in 2007 and offered support for Windows Vista Installers.
Advanced Installer version 7.0 was released in 2009 and offered support for the Windows Mobile Platforms.
Advanced Installer version 7.2.1 was released in 2009 and offered support for the newly released Windows 7.
Advanced Installer version 9.1 was released in 2012 and offered support for the newly released Windows 8.
Advanced Installer version 10.5 was released in 2013 and offered support for the newly released Windows 8.1.
Advanced Installer version 12.2 was released in 2013 and offered support for the newly released Windows 10.
Advanced Installer version 14.0 was released in 2017 and was focused on the Desktop Bridge, Microsoft Visual Studio extensions[3], and the new AppX format.
Advanced Installer version 15.0 was released in 2018 following the Microsoft partnership which included the support for building MSIX packages and the new free Express edition.
In the following years, Advanced Installer added integrations for VMware, Docker, GitHub. In 2021 it was also included an official support to build setup packages for Windows 11. Version 23.2, released in October 2025, now includes several new features, including a new Suite Installer, an updated MSIX Editor, and SBOM Generator integration.
Notable features
[edit]The software has features for application licensing, deploying updates, repackaging and importing old setups, setup analytics, IIS web site installation, SQL databases handling, driver and VSTO add-ins[4] installation, which substantially simplify the setup build and deployment tasks. Advanced Installer also has a Microsoft Visual Studio extension to manage installer projects within Microsoft Visual Studio solution.[5]
The tool comes with dedicated plugins for build servers like Azure DevOps[6], Jenkins, TeamCity, and Bamboo.
Advanced Installer competes in the setup packaging industry against InstallShield, WiX[7], and others.[8][9]
List of products
[edit]Advanced Installer is available in multiple editions:
- Freeware – basic MSI authoring functionality
- Express – free MSIX packaging edition (distributed through Microsoft Store)
- Professional – extended functionality for commercial apps
- Enterprise – advanced deployment, patching, and analytics
- Architect – full-featured edition with advanced customization and enterprise tools
Installer Analytics
[edit]Installer Analytics is a business intelligence solution for Windows installer (MSI-based) which can be used only within Advanced Installer. This is a no-code analytics tool that helps developers understand who their users are.
Desktop Bridge Setup Converter
[edit]Desktop Bridge Setup Converter[10] is a free tool created with technology from Advanced Installer. It can convert existing Win32 / .NET applications for the Windows Store via the Desktop Bridge. The software is an alternative to Microsoft's Desktop App Convertor, which is also used to convert Win32, .NET applications or games for the Microsoft Store.
Advanced Installer Express edition is the successor to the Desktop Bridge Setup Converter. It was released in partnership with Microsoft[11], in March 2018. It was the first tool that could create MSIX packages, until the release of the MSIX Packaging Tool, 6 months later.
Advanced Installer Express is a free tool that allows you to create MSIX packages from scratch or convert old MSI and EXE setup packages to MSIX.
