Constructor (also known as Constructor.io Corporation) is a private technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California, that develops artificial intelligence–powered search and product discovery solutions for ecommerce and retail enterprises. The company provides software tools that personalize onsite search, browse, recommendations, merchandising, and other methods of product discovery to optimize for business outcomes such as revenue, conversions, and customer lifetime value.
History
[edit]Constructor was founded in 2015 by Eli Finkelshteyn (CEO) and Dan McCormick (CTO).[1] Prior to forming Constructor, Finkelshteyn held data engineering roles at Tumblr and Backplane, and McCormick served as CTO of Shutterstock.[2]
In June 2020, Constructor joined the MACH Alliance, a non-profit advocacy group that advocates for open technology ecosystems, as an inaugural member.[3] [4]
In September 2021, Constructor closed $55 million Series A funding led by Silversmith Capital Partners.[5]
In June 2024, the company raised a $25 million Series B led by Sapphire Ventures with participation from Silversmith Capital Partners, giving the company a reported valuation of $550 million and bringing total funding to more than $85 million.[6]
Constructor is listed as one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in the USA.[7]
Technology
[edit]Constructor’s platform uses machine learning, natural language processing, and transformers to improve product discovery experiences.
The company’s AI products include Search, Autosuggest, Browse, Recommendations, Collections, Quizzes, Offsite Recommendations, Attribute Enrichment, and Retail Media.[8]
Constructor’s offerings also include AI Agents such as AI Shopping Agent (ASA) and AI Product Insights Agent.[9] [10]
