International Virtual Learning Academy (IVLA) is an accredited[1] K–12 online private school offering flexible and personalized education to students worldwide. Established in 2007, IVLA provides comprehensive curricula that include core academic subjects, electives, honors, G.A.T.E., and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The school is accredited by Cognia[2] and recognized by the NCAA, ensuring that its programs meet California State educational standards. IVLA has been recognized as one of the top 50 private online high schools in the U.S. by niche.com.[3]

Programs and curriculum

[edit]

International Virtual Learning Academy is registered in the state of California[4], and diplomas are issued by the school in accordance with California’s requirements for private schools.

IVLA’s curriculum is designed to support diverse learning needs through a flexible, self-paced model, allowing students to progress at their own speed while meeting academic standards.

The academy provides multiple curriculum options, including Accelerate Education, Apex Learning, Ignitia, Edmentum, Flexpoint, Edgenuity, Rosetta Stone and more enabling students and families to select a program best suited to their learning style, educational goals, or postsecondary plans. These programs include core academic subjects, a variety of electives, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, NCAA-approved options for student-athletes, and college preparatory tracks.

In 2025, IVLA introduced a Live Class Tier, which blends synchronous instruction with its established asynchronous model. This tier includes live, teacher-led sessions in core subjects including English, math, science, and social studies while still providing students the flexibility to complete work independently.

IVLA serves a wide range of students, including advanced learners, competitive athletes, international students, and those seeking an alternative to traditional in-person schooling. Students receive individualized academic support from certified teachers, success coaches, and counselors throughout their enrollment.

IVLA has two dual enrollment programs with Arizona State University[5] and National American University.[6]
