IronCircle is an American company that provides cybersecurity education and workforce training services. The firm was launched in 2025 via a carve-out of assets from the education provider ThriveDX and is backed by investment firms including Francisco Partners and NightDragon.[1]

History

[edit]

Origins

[edit]

In August 2025 IronCircle announced its launch and indicated that the company incorporated "carved-out assets" from the global cybersecurity education provider ThriveDX.[1] At the same time, the company appointed James C. Foster as Chief Executive Officer and member of its board of directors.[1]

Investment and backing

[edit]

The launch announcement cited backing from Francisco Partners and NightDragon, among other strategic investors.[1] According to investor material, NightDragon lists IronCircle in its portfolio of cybersecurity-related companies.[2]

Headquarters relocation

[edit]

In August 2025 the Governor of Maryland joined company leaders to mark the opening of IronCircle's global headquarters in Columbia, Maryland (Merriweather District). The facility is reported to cover approximately 12,000 square feet and to bring over 200 jobs to the state.[3][4]

Services and platform

[edit]

IronCircle develops training programs and simulations for cybersecurity roles, delivered via online platforms. According to the company, the technology incorporates adaptive learning and scenario-based labs aligned with workforce demands.[1] The company has announced additional developments such as collaboration with Apple to deploy immersive cybersecurity learning via spatial computing devices, though independent coverage of the outcomes remains limited.[5]

Leadership

[edit]

James C. Foster serves as Chief Executive Officer of IronCircle. According to the company's announcement, Foster previously held executive roles in cybersecurity firms and had served as an Operating Partner at NightDragon prior to taking the CEO role at IronCircle.[6] Additional board appointments announced in late 2025 include Barbara Massa and Dr. Avi Rubin.[7]

Recognition

[edit]

In October 2025 IronCircle was awarded the "Security Training Platform of the Year" by the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program.[8]
