Listen Labs is an American software company that develops an artificial intelligence platform for qualitative research. The service conducts automated voice interviews and provides analysis intended to replace or supplement surveys and focus groups.[1]
History
[edit]The company was founded by Alfred Wahlforss and Florian Juengermann, who met while studying at Harvard University. Their earlier work on an AI avatar application led to the development of Listen Labs.[2]
Funding
[edit]In 2025, Listen Labs raised approximately US $27 million in a funding round led by Sequoia Capital.[3]
Operations
[edit]Listen’s system creates interview guides, recruits participants, moderates interviews through AI, and compiles results.[4] The platform has been used for brand research, product testing, persona development, and international studies.
In 2025, Listen Labs announced partnerships with Microsoft.[5]
Culture
[edit]In September 2025, Listen Labs, drew attention with the “Berghain Challenge,” a recruiting puzzle in which participants designed an algorithmic bouncer for Berlin’s nightclub Berghain. The billboard promoting the challenge was decoded by over 10,000 people, with about 60 completing the challenge and receiving interview offers. The campaign received widespread attention in the tech community, including mentions by figures such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and many others, highlighting company’s creative approach to recruiting engineering talent.[6]
