Next Gen Chef is a competitive cooking reality television series that premiered on Netflix on September 17, 2025.[1]. The series features 21 young chefs, some of whom are alumni of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), competing in a series of culinary challenges for a grand prize of $500,000.
Premise
[edit]The competition seeks to identify the next generation of culinary leaders. Contestants are tasked with challenges designed to test both technical skill and creative storytelling through food. The show takes place at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and features many of the teaching staff as well as alumni.

Release
[edit]Next Gen Chef was released on Netflix in two parts. Episodes 1 through 7 were made available on September 17, 2025. The finale, Episode 8, was released on September 24, 2025.
Production
[edit]The show is produced through a collaboration among Alfred Street Industries, UltraBoom Media, and Fulwell Entertainment[2]Executive producers include LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and others[3].
The series leverages the CIA’s historic campus as its setting, aligning the prestige of the institution with the show’s mission to identify new leaders in the culinary world[4]
During production, the show also highlighted its tie to Pittsburgh through one of its contestants and used local interest stories to amplify its reach.
