Le maître zen Thich Nhat Hanh, à l'âge de 80 ans, vêtu d'une robe royale brodée d'or, lors d'une cérémonie (Đại Trai Đàn Bình Đẳng Chẩn Tế) à la pagode Vinh Nghiem, à Ho Chi Minh-Ville lors de son deuxième voyage au vietnam en 2007.
Ce matin, 16 mars 2007, à la Pagode Vinh Nghiem, District 3, Ho Chi Minh Ville. Ho Chi Minh, Comité central des cérémonies de la Sangha bouddhiste du Vietnam, Lycée bouddhiste de Ho Chi Minh-Ville. Ho Chi Minh et la Sangha du Village des Pruniers (France) ont organisé une grande cérémonie (Đại Trai Đàn Bình Đẳng Chẩn Tế) pour célébrer les sacrifices (les victimes de la guerre du Vietnam). Assisté et prouvé qu'il y avait le Très Vénérable Thich Duc Nghiep, le Maître Zen Thich Nhat Hanh, le Très Vénérable Thich Tri Quang, le Très Vénérable Thich Giac Nhien… Plus de 10 000 moines, nonnes et bouddhistes ont assisté à la cérémonie.
Cette photo n'est pas du tout représentative de Nath Hanh, qui n'était jamais habillé de cette façon, mais toujours dans une robe brune de moine très simple, et allait habituellement tête-nue ou avec un chapeau de paille. C'est peut-être le seul jour de sa vie où il a porté un tel costume d'apparat.

La photo a été retouchée pour supprimer l'arrière plan et le remplacer par un fond uni et ajouter un halo de lumière autour de sa tête, lui donnant une allure très solennelle et majestueuse... une belle image pieuse « sulpicienne » proposée à la dévotion des fidèles.
