Fire Emblem is the seventh game of the series, however it is the first one to be released in North America. The Fire Emlbem series began in Japan in 1990 and is regarded as one of, if not the best TRPG series. Yet it took until 2003, when Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken was released as Fire Emblem to North America, for the series to cross the pacific.

Are you not entertained? Then RPG fans should go for Gladius, a deep addictive tactical RPG from LucasArts.
- ^ Steinberg, Steve (July 19, 2003). "Gladius Preview". GameSpy. Retrieved 2010-02-04.
It's an epic tactical RPG that'll have you building an army of gladiators one axe swing at a time.
- ^ Harris, Craig (November 19, 2003). "Onimusha Tactics". IGN. Retrieved 2010-02-04.
But let it be said that there's nothing terrible about Onimushia Tactics, as it's a fun, if somewhat straightforward tactical RPG strategy game. But when compared to games like FFTA and Tactics Ogre, this game falls just a little flat with a much more "vanilla" design that does nothing to establish itself beyond what's already been done.

Tactical role-playing is one of those genres I've been playing a lot in the last few years. For some reason, though, I haven't tired of it like I have military first-person shooters or Baldur's Gate-style action-RPGs. ... On the battlefield, any experienced tactical-RPG player will feel right at home. Most of my favorite gameplay aspects show up. I relish the ability to position my character and then say, "Screw it, that's not what I want to do," and it's easy to do here -- provided you haven't done anything major like used an item or launched an attack.
