Preeta Mathur (born 7 November 1963) is an Indian film, theatre and television actress.[2][3][4][5][6][7] She is best known for her role as Rozi in the film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Priti in the film Zindagi Ek Juaa.[8][9][10][11] She is the president of Ank Productions, a Mumbai-based theater company established in 1976.[12][13][14][15][16]

Early life

Mathur was born in a Hindu family. She grew up in Ajmer.[17] She completed her high school from Sophia School Ajmer and graduated in Master of Business Administration From University of Rajasthan.[2] She was married to Dinesh Thakur in the year 1996.[18][19]

She started her television career with Saeed Akhtar Mirza TV Series Manoranjan[20] and Shyam Benegal TV Series Bharat Ek Khoj,[21] Later she was in the lead role in MS Sathyu tv series Kayar. In the year 1992, she played the lead role of Priya in DD's popular show Kashish (serial)[22][23] and in the year 1996, she played the lead role of Nisha Rao in the serial Parchhaiyan.[24]

Mathur returned to the small screen for a few years in the year 2000.[25][26][27] She played a supporting role in the serial Insaaf and in the year 2001, she worked as a host in Mere Ghar Aana Zindagi with Tom Alter.[28] In 2009, she appeared in the DD telefilm Chauthi Ka Joda.[29]

Films

In 1992, she got her first break in films, she played the supporting character of a Priti in the film Zindagi Ek Juaa.[30] Later she appeared in the supporting role of Tanna's Younger Sister in the film Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda.[31][32] In the same year, she also worked in Qaid Mein Hai Bulbul. She got a special recognition from the film Damini[33] in 1993 and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa[34] in 1994, then she was seen in a supporting role in the film Raat Ke Gunaah.[35] After missing from the big screen for some time, she made a comeback in the year 1997 with the film Aastha: In the Prison of Spring, in this film she played the role of Kamli.[36][37] Then after a long time she appeared in the films Mehryaar[38] and Ittar.[39]
