Missing Topics

[edit]

First of all, no developers past or present are mentioned at all, no mention of the prior owner Fabsol or how he recently left the team due to controversy, nor the creator of a lot of the soundtracks that the mod is semi-famous for- DM Dokuro, who left after being unable to handle the pressure and stress of making music for the community. Also no mention of Ozzatron (I believe the current owner of Calamity?) or any of the current developers I know this is a new page, just thought it'd be good to have a topic here to compile some info thats missing from the page UserKUserK (talk) 12:09, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The only source is IGN and it got the release date wrong. I did mention the devs in the draft, but it has been deleted by @G93ofFun with the explanation: "Calamity is developed by the entire Calamity Mod Team, not just Ozzatron (although ozzatron does own the mod). Although Fabsol is the former owner and original author, he does not explicitly need to be mentioned unless the controversies are covered" Dabmasterars [RU/COM] (talk/contribs) 14:53, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's because these controversies (like dokuro leaving, 22 devs, fabsol's transphobia/porn server with underage members) haven't been covered by any news outlets or places outside of Discord/reddit/YouTube and can't be accurately cited on wikipedia, especially when a lot of it is internet drama which is unfortunately very common in several fandoms. Also there are many different people who have contributed to Calamity over the years and that level of detail is better suited for the calamity mod wiki instead of its wikipedia page which is meant to be more digestible. Yeah controversy sections are what I was thinking, but its a shame there aren't enough viable sources discussing them
Is it that YouTube videos cannot be cited at all as trustworthy or is it that no channels reputable enough have covered it? If the former, I'd be curious to know the reasoning vs why online News Articles are moreso
DM Dokuro made a video about how he was leaving the community due to the pressure of making music for it, but I assume that's not expansive/in-depth enough to be able to warrant a whole section dedicated to its related controversy
It would definitely be nice to at least get a mention of some of these- it'd be a shame to miss out since despite a lot of it being "internet drama", some of these did reflect turning points for the mod and would be good to have a neutral source on- you can't really put unbiased info about Calamity-related controversies on the Calamity wiki
Also, would a link to the Calamity Wiki be something that'd be worth putting up here? just a random thought UserKUserK (talk) 08:57, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:RSPYT, only videos by reliable sources are allowed. (for example, trailer/gameplay showcase uploaded by IGN) DM Dokuro's video would be a primary source, and you're most likely right about it not being in-depth enough. All other info about the developers must be covered by reliable sources and right now we only have one mention from IGN, which doesn't even cover the entire team, only a few original developers.
