Likely inaccuracy
[edit]The statement "Fireflies are rendering artifacts resulting from numerical instabilities in solving the rendering equation" seems to come from the Wikibooks source. It is not confirmed by other sources.
Of course "firefly" is an informal term, so it might not have a strict definition, but my understanding is that it usually refers to bright pixels caused by importance sampling and/or caustics, and it is a form of noise.
I think the Wikibooks source is unreliable and should be removed. KaiaVintr (talk) 19:31, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
