Footnotes

I've added some footnotes for places in the "Coverage" list which have links but don't have articles. I've started with localities in the Royal Mail database, but it doesn't have to end there.

My idea is that it makes it a bit easier to find out where these places are and, if an article is created with the same name, you can easily check that it's the same place. If it is, feel free to delete the footnote. If not, the link should be changed to avoid the mismatch.

Alternative Post Town

"GL17 has the most alternative post towns in England". Shouldn't alternative post town be explained here? 82.45.172.71 (talk) 17:50, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the author meant something like "GL17 is the postcode district which has the highest number of English post towns within it". In an ideal world there would be a source for the statement (so someone could check what was actually claimed) and an {{as of}} to show how recent the source is.

There are lots of web sites out there with lists of postcodes on them, but I don't know if any of them have spent time on trivia like that. Aoeuidhtns (talk) 22:57, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
