Gregg Champion

[edit]

Gower Champion hired myself as well as several other teenagers in the original cast to do his "Bye Bye Birdie" Bway show. I have seen Gregg Champion's films and they are wholesome and faascinating, just Like Marge and Gower were. It is in that way I wish to add to Greggs background; by describing the character and manner of Marge and Gower.

Gower took a keen interest in me and even came to see me in my dance role at 16 at the 92nd St YMHA. He was a charmer with teenagers, just as he must have been with Gregg.

He also asked me to audition for the Stage Manager role of "42nd Street.

That kind of follow-through with a talented person is exactly what Gregg must have benefitted from.

I know he liked me a great deal and I think he considered me to have originality and to be an artist in dance. Gregg obviously is w very talented director. Gower abd Marge must have seen that in him as a teenager.

Now, at 82, I need more work, and like Marge champion, I am expert in Ballroom Dancing. I need work, and if Gregg could talk with me, he would see why Gower chose me for Bye Bye Birdie. In the last 2 years have been without work in movies. I was chosen as special ability/talent in Ballroom for several movies by people like Spielberg and other famous directors dancing in such movies as "The Irishman", "The Post ", etc. My last audition was as a Jazz Dancer for some new TV series (The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, I think), and I was chosen, though it would have been dancing appropriate for my age. Gregg would do the right thing, as Gower and Marge did, and help me. Vwool (talk) 03:15, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
