Android vs. AOSP
[edit]The article lead says it's Android-based, but Android is a family of different operating systems, distributions, or "ROMs" (as they're known). Android is too broad, IMO. It should say it's based on Android Open Source Project to clear up potential misconceptions. 91.151.136.222 (talk) 16:23, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
CalyxOS is not a fork of LineageOS
[edit]Calyx is not a direct fork of Lineage, some features are borrowed, but not everything is, the base is just not the same. Calyx has a lot of connections to Lineage as they share resources sometimes, but ultimately I believe it would be wrong to say it is a fork. They only borrow the apps because AOSP abandoned them, and some features, and also contribute back to the device trees.
There are a lot of missing customization features from Calyx when it comes to Lineage as they are more focused on the privacy of the OS, and as we could see with A14's QPR2, this can significantly delay releases, which causes issues when it comes to security. Calyx had them ready mostly right away, Lineage had a lot more patching to do before they could even start bringing back one device.
This information can be added, as a warning, or CalyxOS removed. I think it'd be better if it was just removed.
Can someone look into this? Not familiar with Wikipedia and don't want to end up breaking the article. 2804:5394:1270:9C00:9817:96FE:36B9:5A03 (talk) 05:50, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Should we just remove CalyxOS or just make it say that it uses LineageOS components? WikiWikiEngine (talk) 22:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Pronunciation
[edit]How is the name officially pronounced? Is it Line-age or Lin-e-age? And is it pronounced "OS" or "O" "S"? Can this be added to the article? Thanks! OsageOrange (talk) 23:47, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- It is pronounced linēij, according to the about page. OS is an acronym for Operating System, so you say each letter seperately. Dylan35794 (talk) 21:16, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
Seedvault
[edit]So seedvault is LOSs default backup app. I consider it an app, as it's roots are a system app in the likes how calyxos handles it, but cannot be installed separately though. However, looking for a list of included apps, this was the best I could find, but seedvault wasn't included.
Suggestion would be to include these that are part of the installation to add them similar to:
- Seedvault (integrated in the OS)
Reason: It's only accessible through settings -> Backup, so it should include some kind of identifier. Kay.urbach (talk) 14:41, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
