Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because the article is substantiually different from previously deleted page. It has since been reworked, claim for notability explained, properly sourced and approved via AFC. As per WP:G4, "Speedy deletion" does not apply, if the user has concerns, he should start an AFD discussion. Lekkha Moun (talk) 11:13, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is a subject on which the community has repeatedly decided they did not want an article: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Superkombat Fighting Championship, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SuperKombat, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SuperKombat: Fight Club, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SuperKombat (2nd nomination), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SuperKombat (3rd nomination), etc. Nothing in the process you followed that I can see would ever have told the AfC reviewer of that ugly history. Hence, while I do sometimes let AfC acceptances void prior taint in the way your describing, the conditions for that are simply not met here. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:06, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The community was judging bad and incomplete articles. I dealt with the same issues with Prison Fight, Thai Fight, World Kickboxing Network, Max Muay Thai, and Full Metal Dojo who had all been previously deleted few times before I recreated them with proper sourcing. The reason why Superkombat Fighting Championship was deleted repeatabdly is because previous creators did not source it well, present the whole picture and the article didn't explain clearly the important part in kickboxing history the promotion holds. Previous article was lacking, incomplete and ugly. SK unequivocally played a crucial role in the world of Kickboxing. When K-1 went under the powerful houses of K-1 rules were "Its Showtime" and "Superkombat". As per criteria, since the article is completely different than before and not "substantially identical to the deleted version", I would appreciate you start a proper AFD and we can see once and for all, what other users think, now that we have an accurate picture of the promotion for the first time.
In the case of past AFD, I agree with the deletion of the stand alone articles of yearly pages and single events, such as described in SuperKombat (3rd nomination):
SuperKombat World Grand Prix I
SuperKombat World Grand Prix II
SuperKombat World Grand Prix III
SuperKombat World Grand Prix IV
SuperKombat World Grand Prix Final
Local Kombat
or these in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Superkombat Fighting Championship:
2018 in SUPERKOMBAT
2017 in SUPERKOMBAT
2016 in SUPERKOMBAT
2015 in SUPERKOMBAT
2014 in SUPERKOMBAT
2013 in SUPERKOMBAT
2012 in SUPERKOMBAT
2011 in SUPERKOMBAT
But the main page "Superkombat Fighting Championship" is entirely justified.
The deletion history is so confusing (with the inclusion yearly pages and single events) and the main pages inaccurately named and recreated by inexperienced users. It's the first time a proper article about the subject is created. Lekkha Moun (talk) 19:20, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've draftified the article & removed the CSD template for now. Sangjiinhwa (talk) 05:25, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why? It was properly accepted via AFC, there should have been a proper discussion as the article is completely different from before. Speedy Delete should have been removed and a discussion should have been started. This is not proper process according to WP:G4. It is substantially different to the deleted versions. Please reinstate the article back and nominate it or let another user nominate it. Lekkha Moun (talk) 07:28, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did not know it had been accepted at AfC, if I had then I would not have draftified it. Sangjiinhwa (talk) 01:53, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will remove the AFC submit tag , can you please move it back for me properly, I have tried before but I have made some mistakes. Lekkha Moun (talk) 14:19, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, without a proper AFD discussion, what is supposed to happen here? I will submit for review again and it will probably get approved again, and then User:Peppry will add Speedy delete tag again?
Once again, as per WP:G4, the page is substantially different to the deleted version, and was accepted via AFC. Therefore, draftify and speedy delete does not apply and we should have a proper discussion. Kindly reinstate the article and nominate it. Lekkha Moun (talk) 17:44, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
First, some things out of the way: I am not Sangjiinhwa, did not communicate with Sangjiinhwa in any way, and would not have done what Sangjiinhwa did because I think draftification was futile for exactly the reasons you just described.
Per WP:DRAFTOBJECT, if someone moves a page to draft namespace and you disagree, you are entitled to move it back to mainspace without going through AfC again, but in that case I will restore the G4 tag for an uninvolved admin to evaluate (I am an admin, but want a second opinion from a different one since I'm particularly hardline against recreating deleted articles among the admin corps). If that G4 is granted, you will have to go to [{WP:Deletion review]]; if it is declined I will probably start an AfD. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:11, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clear explanation and transparency, I will think about the next step, Cheers. Lekkha Moun (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(If I apply for AFC (You can leave AFC comments), but let's say it gets accepted again, will you tag it as speedy or start a AFD?) Lekkha Moun (talk) 18:45, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I was just describing general principles of how I handle salted articles. If some complex procedure differing from the standard ends up happening I can't promise anything about how I will react. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:47, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Was the subject Salted? I don't remember seing it. Lekkha Moun (talk) 19:17, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This specific title wasn't salted. SuperKombat and Superkombat both were (and the former still is). I found this because it popped up on my report for articles created evading a salting (in technical terms "as a suffix of a salted title, ignoring capitalization"). * Pppery * it has begun... 19:26, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
