Unreferenced "quote" from Macionis in second sentence (28.02.2024)

[edit]

The second sentence of the article (which I accessed today) reads "According to Macionis, symbolic interactionism is very modern and trendy". This is not referenced and seems to have been inserted between the first two sentences of the article. 2003:F9:D733:E6E0:CD87:21F3:222B:6AD7 (talk) 17:02, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing "issues" box

[edit]

In 2021 an "issues" box was added, claiming that the articles "may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail" and that "This article appears to contain a large number of buzzwords."

I think that neither of these problems apply to the page in its current state and could not out find why the box was added on the talk page. Thus, I suggest to remove the box again. Simulo (talk) 08:26, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated "central themes" sections

[edit]

Currently, the article has four separate sections on central themes:

1) "Three assumptions frame symbolic interactionism" based on an Article on Communication Theory by West,

2) Blumer’s Premises,

3) "Five central ideas" by Charon and

4) "Principles" referring to David Snow (but citing a handbook article, whose authors might refer to Snow).

I suggest to keep Blumers premises as the main themes and merge and summarize the other theme sections. Simulo (talk) 08:35, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
