Why is this template needed?
[edit]As far as I can tell, this template does not warn of any reader-facing problems, so why do pages need this top banner, instead of a compiled list of offending pages that can be circulated for editors? Alternatively, a message on talk pages would be adequate. — HTGS (talk) 01:11, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's a cleanup template that adds a hidden category (which is how all article cleanup templates work). If you know how to create automatic compiled list that can be routinely updated, then it can replace this. I don't, which is way this is created. Gonnym (talk) 07:41, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- I admit, I don’t either, but isn’t this list enough to go on for now?: User:Alex 21/sandbox/No episode table
- I can’t imagine it needs updating too regularly? — HTGS (talk) 08:29, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- No. A static list is never good. How many users know that list? How would new users discover that list? How would someone watching that list know a page has been fixed? Gonnym (talk) 08:38, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, so let’s put the notice on the talk page. My issue isn’t with tagging the pages, it’s with a banner at the top of the article. — HTGS (talk) 19:02, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- It doesn't belong on talk pages. It's a cleanup banner. Cleanup banners belong on article pages. If you have an issue with cleanup templates in general, then that probably needs to be discussed at the correct venue. Gonnym (talk) 20:07, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- I don’t have issues with cleanup templates in general, I have issues with cleanup banners for trivial, table-template decisions that do not affect the public-facing article or the reader. Thank you though, what is the correct venue? I might have to raise it there. — HTGS (talk) 23:28, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- No idea what is the current venue. Gonnym (talk) 08:00, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
