Hi, I'm Victor. I have always enjoyed reading Wikipedia articles. When I noticed Wikipedia was run by volunteers, I decided to try editing. It's not that I never saw the "Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit" mantra—I just never gave it any thought. It's been said that most logged-in editors started editing as unregistered Wikipedians[1]— I'm an exception to that. In February 2022, I tried editing for the first time as an anon only to get the message that my IP address was blocked (lol). Few days after that, I created this account. I enjoy editing and I'm by no means an expert on any subject. Want to talk to me? Go to my talk page or email me.

My Alias Python Drink

I've always loved computers. In early 2019, I developed an interesting in computer programming.

It wasn't until 2021 though that I decided to create a funny kind-of-stupid alias for myself that would allude to this. Python Drink is a reference to the Python programming language and an allusion to my love for computer programming.

Formerly, I used the username Victor obini which is actually my real name. On June 9, 2022, my username change request from Victor obini to Python Drink was approved.

What I do on Wikipedia

I primarily make copy edits. Usually I search for articles centered around my interests (see infobox) daily to make copy edits. Full list below:

  • Copy edits
    • Correcting spelling, grammar, tense, etc
    • Fixing tone, for example, by removing vague words
    • Rewording sentences to make them easier to read
  • Adding references/citations if I can when I see unsourced content
  • Adding templates such as {{Citation needed}}, {{Clarify}}, etc, when appropriate
  • Wikilinking

Advanced signatures

It is good Wikiquette to sign your messages on talk pages. This is done by typing ~~~~ (four tildes). Do not sign article pages.

Some users have fancy signatures with lots of colors and links. Here are 3 different ways to do that:

  1. Edit directly in the signature box
    1. Go to your Preferences and type some wiki-markup code (and/or HTML markup code) into the signature box to augment your stock signature
    2. Check the box that says "Treat the above as Wiki markup"
    3. Press the "Save" button. Or...
  2. Use an HTML editor
    1. Open an HTML editor (e.g. Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Web)
    2. Design how you want your signature to look, putting links in it by adding brackets [[ ]]
    3. Select it and click the HTML tab and copy the code of your text into the signature box mentioned above.
    4. Be sure not to copy the tags at the beginning and end of the code that say <p> </p>. Or...
  3. Adapt someone else's signature
    1. Find a signature you like
    2. Click edit this page
    3. Copy and paste the signature into your signature box (see #1 above), but change all the links to your links: you do not want your signature leading to someone else's user page!

Do not use images, templates, or external links in your signature. Please ensure your custom signature complies with the relevant guideline. Use special code for displayed pipe character.
