Requesting some copy edit help

[edit]

Greetings @Dhtwiki,

Improvement in language and grammar is advised for my article Draft:My Choice (2015 film).

I came to your user page from Recent changes. Requesting your visit and copy edit help in Draft:My Choice (2015 film) if topic interests you. Thanks Bookku (talk) 05:34, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While I do a lot of copy editing, I don't take requests from my talk page, especially as there is about a year-and-a-half of articles waiting for attention; and the Guild of Copy Editors, of which I am a member, avoids working on draft articles. I took a quick look at your draft and it doesn't seem badly written. If someone told you otherwise, ask them to be specific about what needs work. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:31, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a particular word count

[edit]

In the GOCE Blitz list, I saw a user had 'completed' a 7000+ word article - The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest

Looking at the edit history, I saw barely a change of 50 characters from the user. It's not about the word count but does this not count as 'rubber-stamping'? I am asking this here instead of the project's talk page to not bring in unnecessary attention to the matter.
I just found it strange, because I'm making 1000-character edits and this seemed strangely different. Kingsacrificer (talk) 11:54, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That's the work of an experienced editor working on a request, which therefore comes under the scrutiny of the requester and possibly future reviewers, who are likely to complain if the copy edit is deficient. It's possible that the article was well written before and that the few edits don't reflect the work put into thoroughly reading through the article. In any case, calling another editor's work into question should include that they be notified, especially if the discussion is in an offbeat place. Dhtwiki (talk) 22:33, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am not trying to imply that the editor is in the wrong, hence no tag.
I was only trying to understand if this is acceptable or not because it's my first GOCE drive the stark differences in my approach vs theirs made me question things. Kingsacrificer (talk) 09:36, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if I seemed to misconstrue your intent, but you probably would have gotten a better answer to your question if you had asked at their talk page or on one of the guild talk pages, where others could join in. Dhtwiki (talk) 20:10, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable. I'd take this up at the talk page without focussing on a single case. Kingsacrificer (talk) 14:09, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) If an article is already in great shape when the copy editor arrives, the copy editor won't need to make many changes. If you have issues with the prose that is in that article after the copy edit, cite some specific examples. In that article, I see the copy editor making minor, positive changes throughout the article. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:13, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. Thanks! Kingsacrificer (talk) 17:59, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I need tips with editing.

[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but if you can help me with some tips below, can you help? Because out of my edits, only 1/5 have stayed the same and been approved. MyNathaniel69 (talk) 20:50, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In general, you need to have a better understanding of what constitutes Wikipedia, especially with regard to what information can be considered as reliably sourced and properly cited, as well as what subjects are considered as notable. Follow the advice of those who have gone to the trouble of explaining, either in an edit summary or on your talk page, why they object to your edits. Also, you need to avoid such opinionated content on your user page as the rubbishing of several UK cities, as well as really avoid such vandalism as your edit to Cologne Cathedral. Look at what the respected editors you interact with are doing and do likewise. Dhtwiki (talk) 22:36, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:31, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
