Hi @ExRat, I marked Rapolas as an AfD (discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rapolas a few months ago when I was not an experienced editor. You disagreed and you were correct. But I marked it due to confusion with draft:Rafael (name page). User:Clarityfriend explained why, saying "I'm one of the !voters who voted against your proposition. The names are simply too different. Your draft got declined because there are already numerous Rafaels listed in Raphael (given name)#Rafael, though either keeping them together or splitting them off is generally considered acceptable. (Also, the disambiguation "name page" is non-standard.) In fact, I will do the split, since there are separate dab pages, Raphael (disambiguation) and Rafael." And someone else said "The relevant page you were duplicating was Rafael (given name) not Raphael (given name) despite the reviewers posting the wrong link though they really should know better. The failure on behalf of User:Pythoncoder and User:Gobonobo to correct the error of User:Kovcszaln6 is unfortunate and led to confusion but the declines were correct. The page was also poorly formatted, omitted many valid entries and used an incorrect disambiguator though admittedly that is fixable during new page review." This is why. Hello again...

[edit]

Hi @ExRat, you reverted https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rapolas&oldid=prev&diff=1312706631. Although both "variant" and "cognate" is generally acceptable, I thought that "variant" is a better term since you called it a variant at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rapolas. But thank you for your contributions to support Wikipedia. PS: Remember to view my comment above if you have not since you never responded... ~Rafael (He, him) • talkguestbookprojects 22:16, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:22, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

disambiguation

[edit]

With regard to [1], I know it does :D that edit happened because I'm going through all the links in context of Talk:Nico (disambiguation)#primary topic?, to clarify the incoming links and make sure there's as little impact as possible if there's a change. --Joy (talk) 21:52, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Baltics

[edit]

Howdy. Looking at the last 'revert' at Estonia, which I've reversed. Why would anybody suggest that bringing Estonia in sync with Latvia & Lithuania would be polticially motivated? What's the big problem with "Country in the Baltic region in Europe" as a short description for Estonia? Why is it not a problem for Latvia & Lithuania? GoodDay (talk) 23:57, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My biggest issue with it is because every other European country's short description is a directional designation: Italy (is a) Country in Southern and Western Europe, Albania (is a) Country in Southeast Europe, Poland (is a) Country in Central Europe, Republic of Ireland (is a) Country in Northwestern Europe, Spain (is a) Country in Southern and Western Europe, etc. It's consistency, and I find it odd that the Baltic countries are labelled differently from what appears to be the standard. Italy isn't described as country in the Mediterranean region. Serbia isn't described as a country in the Balkan region. Sweden isn't described as a country in Scandinavia.
My secondary reasoning for the revert was that the short description was in alignment with the others until Gigman/Glebushko0703 changed it in what appeared to me to be an effort merely to troll and edit war. Statements on talk pages such as "it will be decided in an edit war" and saying that the reasoning for changing the short description was to draw out alleged sock puppets. Quite frankly, that behavior rather irritated me and isn't grounds for an actual change and it seems to me to possibly be politically motivated on his part, in my opinion, given his interactions with other Estonian editors.
I would prefer all three countries to have the Northern Europe short description as it aligns with all other short descriptions of European countries. If it remains "Baltic region", so be it, I am not that adamant about it. ExRat (talk) 00:40, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
So "Country in Northern Europe" would suffice, for all three countries-in-question? GoodDay (talk) 00:47, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, yes. But, that's just my opinion. ExRat (talk) 00:51, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've went ahead at put "Country in Northern Europe" for the three Baltic countires, to match also with Sweden & Finland. Hopefully, that'll create peace for all. GoodDay (talk) 00:56, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully. But, as I said, if it's reverted back to "Baltic region", I am not particularly bothered. Now, other editors, I can't speak for...ExRat (talk) 00:58, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Glebushko0703. Comment on content, not on contributors. • You apparently do not learn from your myriad of blocks and bans. Do NOT use warnings on my page when I was well within my rights to leave a statement about your behavior on an arbitration enforcement. Examples of your past behavior and statements attributed directly to you are not personal attacks; the examples that I posited there are accurate and the statements were made by you without any modifications. They bolster a glaring bias you have against a segment of Wikipedia editors, which I (within rights) pointed out. ExRat (talk) 07:18, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You assume that I have a "strong bias against Estonians" and the evidence you provide for that is a proposal to create a Wikipedia page of a reporter (that you portray as harassment) and a joking offer to an involved user to create a "club" for counteracting activities like this. Those arguments are not solid enough to prove your point, you just take sentences out of the context while ignoring my previous statements (like the fact that I've said i got nothing against Estonia before in some related discussion). This is not the first time I see you casting aspersions like this against me, and I find it offensive at this point. This was your final warning, I'm tired of being a target for those accusations already just because I did something that Estonian editors (or Estonian media) didn't like.
P.S. Be smarter than me, learn from my blocks, don't get your own. Gigman (talk) 09:45, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you reporting this to admin again. Abusing warning templates (based on twisted understanding of policy) is a kind of harassment. ~2026-63497-8 (talk) 11:43, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your first contribution. Happy editing! Gigman (talk) 11:48, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This was your final warning... You don't intimidate me. This now harassment. You can not place warnings on my talk page in retaliation for my participation in an arbitration enforcement, which I have every right to do so. I suggest you stop. ExRat (talk) 12:37, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
