The consensus is not change Kiev to Kyiv in historical contexts. I am also not sure what this edit summary is supposed to mean. Any mass changes to historical names should be discussed first. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 06:45, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Vectorization of "Zemecha" program in communist Ethiopia

[edit]

Hello, we are only slightly acquainted, but still. As far as I understood from the the final part of this dialogue, you are know how to vectorize old images (?). If so, then I have something that needs to be vectorized. I AM NOT REQUESTING THIS FROM YOU, BUT SIMPLY SUGGESTING, if you want and if you have time, I would be incredibly grateful if you would vectorize the emblem of the Ethiopian reformist campaign called "Zemecha". You will not find an article about it on Wikipedia now, but in the future I will definitely do so. I saw the same logo patch on all the participants of this program. I have photographs from Wikimedia, whose names will be indicated below, and there you can see a logo that is presumably directly related to "Zemecha", which I ask you to vectorize, if you have the desire and time for that. Thank you in advance.

Image names:

Members of the Ethiopian "Zemecha" program at the rally --- (best one)

Soldiers of the Ethiopian army at a pro-government rally --- it is just contains small patches with same emblem on participants uniform Algirr (talk) 03:50, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

if you could tell me the text on the logo (including the actual script it's in) then I'll take a crack at it, I can't read it due to picture quality WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 19:50, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's Amharic language and I'll be honest, I don't know exactly what's written there, but I have one guess: the "Zemecha" program was also called "Development through co-operation enlightenment and work". I'll try to find something about it. Algirr (talk) 19:55, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
if you could find higher quality photos I'll try to do it. WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 19:58, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
well, of course I will try, but what I sent it Is the best one for now Algirr (talk) 19:59, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
in extreme cases, you can do with vectorization without text, it will be OK too Algirr (talk) 20:04, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
unfortunately i have not found anything new about this yet, but i have found other emblems about Ethiopia of those years and which are also very important. please don't take it as impudence, but if you have the opportunity to do some of the ones shown below too, i would also be infinitely grateful to you....

The fact you were "pretty angry when you made this edit" and it was an isolated incident doesn't change the fact that it happened and you do not seem to have apologised or retracted it, only given an explanation. When you get angry on Wikpedia, stop editing, do other things, get up and walk around, or whatever else helps you calm down before resuming editing. As you've seen, your outbursts will only serve as a tool to get you blocked. File:Iranian Conservatism Flags Symbol.svg

[edit]

[1] I reverted what you uploaded, because Islamist conservatives and pro-Pahlavi monarchists are hostile to each other, so coexistence is impossible. I think it would be better to upload a flag with blue on the left and a triband flag without an emblem on the right, like the Iranian Liberalism Flag. ProgramT (talk) 01:58, 8 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the idea that they coexist, but that they're both strains of iranian conservatism. Before the flag emblem it had the pahlavi symbol and IR symbol side by side. WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 02:59, 8 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that I don't know your intentions. Nevertheless, given that Islamists and pro-Pahlavi monarchists are irreconcilable antagonists, I would recommend switching to something like the Iranian Liberalism Flag, rather than a crossed between the two flags (Pahlavi Iran flag and Islamic Iran flag). Hello @WeaponizingArchitecture,

I noticed you reverted my recent edits on Popular Forces and Popular Forces administration in the Gaza Strip. I’d like to better understand your reasoning and clarify mine.

The content I removed relied on material that originate from a primary source and a social network (namely Facebook). My concern is that this does not meet Wikipedia’s sourcing requirements (see WP:RS and WP:PRIMARY), as Wikipedia discourages the use of primary sources, and social networks are not considered reliable sources.

Your edit summary mentioned “mischaracterization of WP:PRIMARYUSE” and suggested that my edit was an attempt to “de-Palestinianize” the group. That was not my intention, my edits were solely about ensuring compliance with Wikipedia’s sourcing standards.

I would genuinely like to understand on what Wikipedia policy grounds you believe your reverts are valid? From my perspective, these mentions should be discarded until reliable secondary sources are available.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Best regards, I'ingénieur (talk) 16:29, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Minor problems with your signature

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed in one of your recent discussion posts that there are two small problems with your signature.

 1. You have a pipe character in your signature, which can cause problems if your signature is embedded in a template; part of your signature will be interpreted as a template parameter. See Wikipedia:Signatures#Treat as wiki markup for instructions on how to fix that.
 2. Your signature is too long. See WP:SIGLENGTH. Your current signature is:
<span style="color:#D33C3C"><span style="vertical-align:sub;"><span style="vertical-align:sub;line-height:180%"><span style="font-size:180%; vertical-align:sub;"></span></span></span></span> <span style="color:#111111">WeaponizingArchitecture</span> | <span style="color:#111111">yell at me</span>

Which displays like this:

WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me

The above is 382 characters, considerably longer than the allowable 255 characters. I recommend something like this:

 <span style="color:#111111">WeaponizingArchitecture</span> &#124; <span style="color:#111111">yell at me</span>

This one is 246 characters and displays like this:

WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me

I hope that you will make this change. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:57, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Since the signature doesn't directly change I'll do it. Thanks. WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 02:20, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Gaza genocide

[edit]

Are you getting bad vibes about the way this topic has been covered? 74.47.230.12 (talk) 02:52, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat. I feel like a MAJORITY of the way it's been handled falls under WP:TOOSOON and I fear that there's going to be a massive controversy in the future once the reliable sources have come to a clean and final conclusion on the war and it's events, the war crimes committed during it, and any title given to any event during the war.
I personally believe the title of "Genocide" seems less like an actual reflection of the sources but more of a rushed appeasement of a specific crowd. I've noticed that a lot of the Pro-Palestine camp, regardless of their stance (which I believe 99% of such editors are NOT maliciously editing articles, as some claim about them) seem to have an existentialist perspective of Wikipedia articles covering the topic, that is to say, that if it isn't called a genocide by Wikipedia then it will somehow harm the cause for an independent Palestinian state or even just allow the war in Gaza to continue. I don't think this is true. I personally feel that it's too soon to declare "genocide" on the page (even though in my personal opinion is not an unfounded descriptor)
Both Israel and Hamas have pumped out a massive amount of Propaganda and it's sort of infected the online media space in a way not really seen since Russia-Ukraine or Syria which is a primary reason I want stricter enforcement of WP:TOOSOON on this current war. Alongside this a lot of commentators considered as "reliable sources" serve moreso as Pundits at this point.
Regardless though I also fear a sort of "opposite" takeover by pro-Israel editors, and even though they aren't "in charge" for lack of a better word right now, if Wiki admins decided to ban everyone who has sort of caused the current situation from the I/P topic, it will cause a massive revision in the opposite direction, including potentially atrocity denial.
I apologize for this, and I really don't want to cause any conflict or "appear" as on one side or to play devils advocate for these suggestions: I just believe that we need to strictly focus on reliable sources for this war and try not to insert "breaking news" as a lot of it is unconfirmed and clouded in the mass propaganda machine both sides have right now.
It is exhausting. Sometimes I want to just request a voluntary topic ban but I also edit articles about the countries unrelated to the conflict, or historical events that are well documented.
Hope this helps. WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 03:30, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful

[edit]

Hi WeaponizingArchitecture. I've never interacted with you before now but I was recently pinged in a matter that involves you at User talk:CommunityNotesContributor#Other editor seems to have taken interest in my account. Even if it's not nessecarily your intent, you've obviously left Alexandraaaacs1989 uncomfortable. I strongly suggest you avoid interacting with her as much as possible given the possible concerns around WP:HOUNDING. I know it can be difficult to avoid someone if you have a lot of overlap in editing interests, but waiting to intervene until after other people have commented and focusing on content rather than the contributor, are good tips to avoid singling someone out. Controversial topic areas like PIA are complicated even without the personal side of things, so please just be careful about how you interact with others. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 12:10, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second this statement, and I'll add that comments like this are not appropriate anywhere, but especially in a contentious topic area. If you want to edit about PIA topics, you need to be very mindful to not raise the temperature in discussions. Vague allegations of "hovering" are temperature-raising, and later following up on the user's talkpage with vague complaints and a suggestion to leave the topic area significantly compounds that. Following her to other articles, even more of a problem still. So I'm going to log this as a warning under WP:CT/A-I. I hope you'll take Clovermoss' advice (there are few better people to listen to when it comes to the human considerations of editing Wikipedia), and I hope you'll be more careful on PIA articles in the future. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 13:28, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. I'm likely going to take a break from PIA for a while anyways due to how stressful editing the topic has been for myself. WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 13:40, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds like a good idea. If you want any suggestions for stuff to do, I could probably help with that. Something I've been meaning to do sometime this month is to organize Wikipedia:Requested articles into something more useful. I try to do this once a year or so by removing articles that have been created. I was hoping to go the extra mile this year and add more templates regarding the redirects, remove non-notable entries, etc. But if that doesn't suit your interests, I'm sure I could suggest something more in line with what you like that will help you get away from all this. It's possible to move on from mistakes, what matters is trying your best to learn from them. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 15:10, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection is used to stop ongoing disruption. You asked for protection of 2025 United States naval deployment in the Caribbean, which hasn't had any problematic edits for many days now. Your reasoning was Please lock to extended confirme indefinitely. Current event, likely going to be constantly brigaded... We do not preemptively protect pages because disruption is "likely", and we also do not go straight from zero protection and a clean protection log to indefinite extended confirmed protection. Please be more discerning with your reports in future. Toadspike [Talk] 02:56, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
