December 2025

[edit]

I've prepared the draft schedule for December 2025, it is here. Scheduling will begin soon. Of course, we will do our best to accommodate any late nominations. Wehwalt (talk) 14:21, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Seven 100th anniv on same day in Nov 2026

[edit]

Would you do a double nomination here: (at WP:TFAP):

BOTH 100th anniversaries and US highway systems

November 11 U.S. Route 101 Why SounderBruce

November 11 U.S. Route 2 in Michigan Why Imzadi1979

or TRIPLE: U.S. Route 16 in Michigan
or QUADRUPLE U.S. Route 23 in Michigan
or FIVE U.S. Route 31 in Michigan
or SIX U.S. Route 41 in Michigan
ah hem, SEVEN U.S. Route 131
    • all 100th anniversaries

The November 11 in three weeks? I think you have to ask SchroCat, he scheduled November. I'd personally be reluctant, not only because it is short notice and costs us as many as 7 articles, but the difficulty in constructing intelligible blurb that gives due attention to all of them. Wehwalt (talk) 23:33, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, all 100th anniv on Nov 11, 2026. Thirteen months from now. I don't see a way to run all of them at once, but maybe two, but which two and what to do with the other 5, all missing the 100th anniv. FYI @Imzadi1979: and FYI @SounderBruce:. MisawaSakura (talk) 23:38, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Suggest you move this thread to WT:TFA for more general discussion. Wehwalt (talk) 11:02, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Moved from Wehwalt's talk page at his suggestion. Re-ping Imzadi1979 and SounderBruce. MisawaSakura (talk) 11:29, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps instead of a TFA that day, we can have Wikipedia:Featured topics/U.S. Highways in Michigan as "Today's featured topic". The blurb can be a summary of the topic's lead. This is also November 11, which is a popular date for TFAs because of Armistice Day. Z1720 (talk) 14:44, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm less concerned about Armistice Day as 8 November will be Remembrance Sunday, which is a suitable substitute.
I'm not keen on running seven articles on one day as it removes six more articles from our rather small pot of available pieces to choose from. - SchroCat (talk) 15:07, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This doesn't really strike me as the 100th anniversary of these particular roads (which were just renamed on that day?); it appears to be the 100th anniversary of the United States Numbered Highway System. —Kusma (talk) 15:47, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How close is "too frequent" for similar FAs to run?

[edit]

I work in music on Wikipedia, especially rock albums. Let's say, hypothetically, I have an FA I want to run on July 24 for its 25th anniversary, but I have another one I'd like to have appear on July 30 because it turns 30. Is this even doable? The first article in the example is real, the other one is just an unfinished theory that I could definitely try for, if it's acceptable. mftp dan oops 05:38, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@MFTP Dan: Are the music articles from the same band/singer? If so, I would be hesitant to support running so close together. If not, I would be more likely to support running both as these are significant anniversaries. Ultimately, the decision is up to the TFA coordinators, with feedback from the community. Z1720 (talk) 12:33, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The other would be from someone entirely different, completely different genre of rock. It is Unplugged (Alice in Chains album), which as it currently stands is a start-class article, but mark my words, this time next month it will be a worthy B. mftp dan oops 13:09, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That feels a bit close, although it should be remembered that there are few hard and fast rules for TFAs. Personally I try to avoid doubling up on subject matter during a month, so for modern music I may go up to three articles as long as they are different (one biography, one song and one album, for example). This is just a rule of thumb, rather than anything concrete and I may step outside that if circumstances are right. That’s just my approach and the other co-ords may take a different approach, of course. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 12:50, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
