Request for Assistance: VP-Expert History Section Update

[edit]

Hello WikiProject Computing,

I have a conflict of interest as the author of VP-Expert, so I cannot edit the article directly. I’ve posted a {{request edit}} on the article talk page asking for a very narrow, well-sourced addition documenting VP-Expert’s market position, using a reliable secondary source from InfoWorld.

Here’s the proposed addition for quick reference:

VP-Expert was widely adopted during the late 1980s. By December 1989, InfoWorld described it as "the best-selling expert-system software for personal computers."[1]

Would an uninvolved editor be willing to review and, if appropriate, implement this? Talk page request: Talk:VP-Expert#COI_Request:_Add_Secondary_Source_to_Document_Market_Position

Thank you very much!

AfD for XenMan

[edit]

I made an AfD for XenMan over at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/XenMan, and I figured that you all might want to know. Any thoughts? GrinningIodize (talk) 22:46, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assistance updating Mermaid Chart page

[edit]

Hello, I've proposed updates to the Mermaid Chart article on its Talk page [1] but haven't received feedback.

Could someone review and help implement if the changes are appropriate? I work for the company and want to follow COI guidelines properly. Thank you! Sleepyfuecoco (talk) 19:06, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please add reliable sources. Bearian (talk) 21:58, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

[edit]

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Request for input – Fortran

[edit]

There is a discussion at Talk:Fortran on a long-term issue over the addition of Modern Fortran Explained to the further reading section, even without a link to the online seller. MrOllie considers it spam; a whole host of temporary accounts from an offwiki thread have defended the prestige of the book within the Fortran community and this has, perhaps unsurprisingly, made AN/I. I have said we need to focus this discussion on its substance—is this book one of the standard references on Fortran that should be under further reading?—rather than how the editors have behaved.

So, editors with relevant expertise in Fortran are invited to come and weighh in. Daniel Case (talk) 19:01, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has requested that OKD be moved to another page, which may be of interest to this WikiProject. You are invited to participate in the move discussion. Joy (talk) 17:18, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
