Kiyoko Yoshida is voted class president and is immediately sat next to Tsuyoshi Yano who turns up covered in bruises; worrying Yoshida he is being bullied. One day she follows him and realises Yano is the clumsiest person she has ever met, injuring himself multiple times by accident. Yano thanks her for worrying about him. She continues to think about him for several days, leading her to realise she has a crush on him. Yano is absent for several days and Yoshida eventually learns he was hit by a truck. Yano turns out to be ok as the truck didn't actually hit him, but he did run into a wall. After this the two steadily become closer but Yoshida feels like Yano deliberately avoids people. She tries several times to get close to him but each attempt ends with Yano being injured again. Feeling guilty she asks if she can treat his injuries, since she carries a first aid kit everywhere anyway. She also offers to support him in doing whatever he wants to so he won't be injured as often. Yano admits he just wants a normal high school life.

Yoshida's friend Yuzukawa believes Yoshida and Yano are dating, but Yoshida insists she is just helping him live a normal school life. Yano drops his bento but is unconcerned as he drops it every day. Yoshida decides to help him eat lunch in a normal manner. Over several days Tanaka accidentally drops a bin on Yano's head, a crow steals part of his bento, a bookshelf falls on him and he is hit by a basketball. For their safety Yano decides to return to eating alone, but Yoshida decides she will make his lunch for him. The next day a picture frame falls on him, but amazingly he manages to not drop Yoshida's bento and finishes eating it. Yoshida almost confesses but instead demands they eat lunch together every day. In art class they are tasked with drawing each other's faces, but Yano has so many accidents they barely finish. Yoshida realises she has never really looked closely at his face before, making her flustered. She ends up drawing a basic picture of his face but everyone is surprised Yano turns out to be a skilled artist and he draws her face perfectly. At Yano's request they pose for a commemorative photo together, amusing Yuzukawa.
