Area code 509 is an area code for Washington. It was created as a split from 206 in 1957. It covers the eastern portion of the state, consisting of towns such as Spokane, Ellensburg, Yakima, Walla Walla, Wenatchee, Richland, Pasco, Ephrata, Quincy, Kennewick, and as far west as Stevenson.
