Dimitar Dushkov Penev (Bulgarian: Димитър Душков Пенев, 12 July 1945 – 3 January 2026) was a Bulgarian footballer and manager. As a footballer, he played as a central defender for CSKA Sofia. He was also capped 90 times for Bulgaria,[1] and played for them at the 1966, 1970 and 1974 FIFA World Cups.[2]

As a manager, he coached teams in Bulgaria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and China. He was the manager of Bulgaria at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, where they finished fourth, and the 1996 UEFA European Championship. He also managed CSKA Sofia four separate times. Penev was also appointed the honorary president of CSKA Sofia and semi-professional side Nottingham United FC.[3]

Penev died on 3 January 2026, at the age of 80.[4] He was the uncle of former Bulgarian international footballer and national team coach Lyuboslav Penev.
