Howard Augustine Wheeler Jr. (October 23, 1938 – August 20, 2025), nicknamed Humpy Wheeler, was an American motorsports businessman. He was best known as the former general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) racetrack in Concord, North Carolina. Wheeler later became the president and general manager of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He is a major auto racing promoter, mainly in stock car racing and IndyCar racing.[1][2]
Wheeler played the role of Tex, the boss of fictional sponsor Dinoco in the 2006 animated movie Cars and in the 2017 movie Cars 3.[3]
Wheeler died on August 20, 2025 in Charlotte from natural causes at the age of 86.[4]
