InZOI (stylized as inZOI) is a life simulation video game made by inZOI Studio and published by Krafton.[1] The player controls virtual people and manages their daily lives, it is like games in The Sims series. The game lets players create characters, build homes, and explore a modern city world or other worlds included with DLC.
inZOI was made available to play in Early Access on March 28, 2025 on Windows[2] and on August 20, 2025 for MacOS. A PS5 version is supposed to be released in early 2026.[3]
Gameplay
[change | change source]inZOI is a life simulation game where players create and control characters called “Zois” and manage their daily lives. Players can make their own Zois with detailed body and clothing options and design houses and cities using build tools. inZOI has open world capabilties with cities inspired by real places like a metropolis and a coastal city.[4]
Players can direct Zois to do everyday tasks, form relationships, work jobs, and explore freely, or watch them live on their own. The game also uses generative AI tools[5] for customization and lets players share their creations with others.
inZOI has many life sim features such as personality traits, social interactions, careers, and free will, where Zois live without the need of the player in the world and create their own stories.[6]
Development
[change | change source]inZOI was created by inZOI Studio and published by KRAFTON. The game was built using Unreal Engine 5 and uses new technologies such as AI tools and real-life looking graphics to create a detailed life simulation world.[7]
Before inZOI’s Early Access release, KRAFTON held a global online showcase on March 19, 2025, where the development team shared information about the game’s goals, future updates, pricing, and creative tools. At the event, inZOI Studio’s producer and director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim said that realism and player freedom were major goals during development.[8][9]
To help players try parts of the game before full release, a free demo called inZOI: Creative Studio was made available for a short time in August 2024. It allowed players to test character creation and building tools while the full game continued development before early access.[10]
Reception
[change | change source]inZoi received mixed reactions from players and critics after its Early Access launch. Many reviewers showed appreciation for the game’s visuals, character creation tools, and customization options. Players on Steam have given the game a large number of positive reviews, with about 86% of the reviews showing “Mostly Positive” ratings.[11]
However, many players and critics also said the game lacks deep simulation content and feels unfinished. A player survey found that a large group of users thought the world did not feel alive enough and that social interactions were awkward.[11]
Some media reviews called the game “not very fun” or “soulless” in its early state and said it did not yet match the tone of similar games like The Sims. Critics and commentators also said that while the technology and visuals were impressive, the gameplay still needs more development.[12][13]
