Kintex
Kintex is a company owned by the government of Bulgaria. It was started in Sofia in 1966. For many years, it was controlled by the country's secret police during the communist era. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company was famous for smuggling many types of goods, including cigarettes and heavy weapons. It sold these weapons to different groups in Turkey and other countries, making millions of dollars using secret bank accounts.
After the communist government ended in 1992, Kintex became a legal commercial business. Even though it is still owned by the state, it now follows modern trade laws. Today, the company is licensed to buy and sell equipment for the Bulgarian Army and police. It also works on engineering projects and sells military supplies to countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
