Scott Raymond Adams (June 8, 1957 – January 13, 2026) was an American author and cartoonist. He was the creator of the Dilbert comic strip.[1] He was born in Windham, New York.
In February 2023, Dilbert was dropped by many newspapers and its distributor, Andrews McMeel Syndication, after Adams called black Americans that disagreed with "It's okay to be white" a "hate group" and said white Americans should "get the hell away from" them.[2][3]
In May 2025, Adams revealed that he has prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.[4][5] On January 12, 2026, it was announced that Adams was entering into hospice care.[6] He died the next day in Pleasanton, California at the age of 68.[7][8]
