Sinhalisation → Sinhalization – The current spelling "Sinhalisation" has rarely appeared in real usage. Across academic reports, mainstream media, and online sources, the term is consistently rendered as "Sinhalization" with -ization rather than -isation. Wikipedia should follow the dominant usage. As an example, see the following report from PEARL, as well as articles published by South Asian Voices and Countercurrents that use American spelling:
- State Sponsored Sinhalization of the North-East The Anti-Development Machine (PDF) (Report). People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL). 20 January 2026.

- Oppose Violates MOS:RETAIN on an article created two decades ago with a stable title since. Per MOS:RETAIN: "There is only very exceptionally (such as when a topic has strong national ties, or the change reduces ambiguity) a valid reason for changing from one acceptable option to another." Sources are irrelevant here but just a note that you cite CounterCurrents yet here's an example of them using Sinhalisation. Cherrypicking a few mostly American sources is a very poorly made case. I note the Tamil Guardian often uses Sinhalisation. AusLondonder (talk) 17:38, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
