View Royal is a town in the province of British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Vancouver Island and is in the Capital regional district.
The population of View Royal was 11,575 as reported by the 2021 Canadian census.[1] The mayor of View Royal is Sid Tobias.[2] The town was started by Kenneth Mackenzie after he built the Craigflower Manor in 1850s and named the area Craigflower Country, living there with his wife and six children. Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken later bought 80 acres of land from the Hudson's Bay Company and he named it View Royal because of its royal view of Esquimalt Harbour.[3] [4]
