Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (September 23)
[edit]
- in-depth (not just brief mentions about the subject or routine announcements)
- reliable
- secondary
- strictly independent of the subject
- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to User:ChessUp/sandbox and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Hi there, I was required to change my username from ChessUp to my current ChessMasterKS, and so I cannot figure out how to access my draft of my article to make the above requested changes. Can you let me know how I access it?
- Thank you! ChessMasterKS (talk) 19:44, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi—it looks like it was deleted by Justlettersandnumbers as it met the threshold of needing to be entirely rewritten in order to comply with our content policies (WP:G11). While you can ask for it to be undeleted in order for it to be revised, there's no guarantee that will happen (it's more or less up to Justlettersandnumbers), and I would personally recommend starting from scratch, as dour as that sounds.
For some general advice: try to keep things brief, focus on just including the best references you can, and make sure they meet the criteria listed in WP:42 (which is just a restating of what's in the above gray box). Perryprog (talk) 19:49, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

- If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page):
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
Important items to note:
- The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
- You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
- The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.
Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
- @Mfield: This is a courtesy notification that this account's username has been changed from "ChessUp" to "ChessMasterKS" via a global request. If the old username was the only reason for the block, their username now complies with the username policy and the account can be unblocked. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:05, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User:ChessUp/sandbox
[edit]
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:ChessUp/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Unblocked, and COI
[edit]I have unblocked your account as your username has been changed. Please make sure you read the the conflict of interest guideline noted in the original warning. Your initial edits were promotional in nature, and if you have a connection with the subject of that article you must declare your COI. Additionally if you are an employee of that company, your edits are considered paid editing even if you are not directly or specifically financially compensated for them. If that is the case then you are obliged to make the relevant disclosure noted in that page. If you have any kind of connection with that product then you should refrain from editing about it directly. Mfield (Oi!) 18:27, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there, I am new to Wikipedia and am not completely sure how this works. I am an employee of Bryght Labs, the maker of the product ChessUp. We are wanting to create a non-promotional, informational Wikipedia page for our company, which we believe is noteworthy. Where do I disclose my COI when submitting it? I have additional sources to cite to improve our article and want to have it reviewed again.
- Thank you so much for your help! ChessMasterKS (talk) 18:32, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#COI_editing. Both the COI Editing section and the Paid editing sections apply to you. As an employee of Bryght Labs, you must post the required disclosure on your user page mentioned in the paid editing section. That is non negotiable. You must also adhere to the requirements in the COI editing section, about disclosing your COI whenever you make or are about to make an edit that concerns something related to your company. If in doubt, it's better to post on the talk page of the article in question, noting your COI and asking if a change can be made. Then other editors can add or edit the article accordingly if your suggestion is accepted. Editing articles to add references or mentions of your company or its products without following those guidelines will almost certainly result in your account being permanently blocked from editing at minimum certain articles or topics. As such it's best to tread carefully around those topics until you are more conversant with what is acceptable. Mfield (Oi!) 18:43, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- Also, for help for a new editor, you can ask at Wikipedia:Teahouse Mfield (Oi!) 18:47, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- How do I find my draft of my article submission to edit it and add additional information? It was under my previous username, which has now been changed. Can I still find it? Or do I need to create a new article for submission?
- Thank you ChessMasterKS (talk) 19:16, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- You will have to start over, using the Articles for Creation process. Your draft article was deleted as promotional; it will not be restored as it was written.
- Please be aware that Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company or its products are not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:46, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

- Hi there,
- I was wondering if including posts from other industry blogs about Bryght Labs and its product, ChessUp, would be an improvement?
- Also, I was specifically wondering about my citation for the CBS Show Innovation Nation - the show has the segment about Bryght Labs on YouTube, which is what I linked to. Is that an ok source? It is a very in-depth discussion about the product and company by a notable source.
- Thank you! Let me know where else I could seek out help improving my article. ChessMasterKS (talk) 19:22, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) By nature, what we consider blogs are self-published sources that lack editorial review. Sometimes, reliable sources (newspapers, magazines, news organizations) host columns that they call "blogs". Those may be acceptable if the authors are professional, but caution is needed because they might not be subject to the same standards of fact-checking as their main publication. Trade publications are also a "maybe" because they are often written with a promotional tone with the intent of selling products or services.
- I don't see your citation to Innovation Nation. YouTube is considered unreliable unless the video comes from the official channel of an existing reliable source. So if the video comes from the official CBS YouTube channel, then it could be considered acceptable. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:19, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
- It is the official CBS Henry Ford's Innovation Nation Show YouTube channel that I linked to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtlpY82sMhI
- Is that accepted as a reliable source? It is a very in-depth, non-promotional discussion about the product and company.
- Thank you!
- How else might I go about getting help improving my article? ChessMasterKS (talk) 14:52, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
