Symbolic Depiction of Abbas ibn Ali in Removed Artwork
[edit]I’d like to respectfully clarify the rationale behind the faceless depiction of Abbas ibn Ali in the removed artwork. The image was intentionally designed without eyes or detailed facial features to align with Shia Islamic visual ethics, which generally discourage fully illustrating the faces of sacred figures—especially members of the Ahl al-Bayt. The artist, Muntadher Saleh (a Shia polymath and visual artist), follows this tradition, using symbolism over realism. The absence of facial details is not a flaw but a deliberate choice to reflect spiritual transcendence, inviting viewers to connect with the divine virtues Abbas represents—loyalty, courage, and sacrifice—rather than his physical traits. This style is commonly used in respectful religious art within Shia communities. It avoids anthropomorphizing revered figures while still honoring their memory. In this context, the facelessness is what adds reverence, not ambiguity. Therefore, I kindly suggest that the image be reconsidered for inclusion. It is culturally and religiously appropriate, and it adds a valuable visual and interpretive dimension to the article, especially from the Shia perspective. Thank you for your consideration. 004bvan (talk) 06:03, 5 July 2025 (UTC)

The US M9A1 rocket launcher is an example of the weapon type commonly known as the 'B'azooka'. The name was taken from a homemade musical instrument played by American comedian Bob Burns, which an experimental model of the launcher was said to resemble. The first 'B'azooka' to be adopted by the US Army was the M1, which entered service in 1942. The M9A1 is a later development with a two piece tube that permitted disassembly for ease of transportation. In common with German rocket-propelled anti-tank munitions, the 'Bazooka' employed hollow-charge warheads. Hollow charge munitions rely upon the generation of a jet of molten metal to penetrate their target. Their performance is therefore unaffected by range or velocity and they can be relatively light in weight. The M9A1 had a maximum range of 640m, and its rocket propelled munition could penetrate 120mm of armour.
It is NOT about instrument, it is NIT about colloquial "bazooka" as any handheld rocket launcher neither. 94.246.147.217 (talk) 17:09, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

- Because those are particular models rather than a collective term. Hence bazooka, but M20 Super Bazooka. Materialscientist (talk) 17:19, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
The Bazooka is the M1 and the M9A1 (improved Bazooka), the Super Bazooka is M20 (very different model, incompatible). Just like I linked you, I even quoted for you, still still didn't read. 94.246.147.217 (talk)

[edit]You reverted my changes for the post Charles Eymundson. I am his granddaughter and have significant information and insight about this gentleman. I donated the families photos that were taken during his lifetime and my father's lifetime to the Provincial Archives of Alberta. These photos were not necessarily taken by Charles Eymundson and he was not "known" for photography as they were not released until 2012, after my father Romeo passed away. Charles worked for the Eau Claire lumber Company,(per Charles), but Charles, nor the PAA State that he was a lumberjack. I have not found any documentation to support this, however, in and it is not cited correctly on Wikepedia. Who ever uploaded the original, made assumptions. If you can cite the "lumberjack" job please and the citation to the article. If you read the biographical sketch and custodial history on the Provincial Archives of Alberta, that I wrote, you will understand that I did, cite the PAA Hermis. I would appreciate you re-posting the changes I made. If you require more information, please feel free to engage in a conversation with me. Skalar1872 (talk) 20:25, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

TBVC is caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. It is the one of the rarest forms of skin infection caused by M. tuberculosis.
There are few case reports of the causative organism being M. avium complex or other species in the same genus. Gedo Somalia
[edit]Dear Wikipedia Administrators and Editors,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am reaching out in regard to a recent edit I made to the Wikipedia page about the Gedo region in Somalia. I changed the classification of Gedo from being a regional administrative division under Jubaland to a federal member state in formation. This edit was reverted, and I would like to respectfully appeal that decision by providing further context and justification based on recent political and administrative developments within Somalia.
### Background:
Gedo, while historically recognized as one of the regions within Jubaland, is currently at the center of a significant political realignment in Somalia. The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has, in recent months, asserted direct administrative and military control over the region, particularly in the town of Beled-Xaawo. This move follows ongoing disputes between the federal authorities and the Jubaland administration regarding the legitimacy and governance of Gedo.
As of recent reports (mid-2025), the Somali federal government has:
- Dispatched federal security forces to Gedo, particularly Beled-Xaawo, removing regional Jubaland forces.
- Appointed new federal-level officials, including a regional NISA commander, without coordination with Jubaland.
- Publicly stated, through government channels and allied media, that it does not recognize Jubaland’s claim over Gedo.
- Actively explored the possibility of formalizing Gedo as a federal member state in its own right, in line with growing regional demands and the political climate.
### Why the Edit is Justified:
My edit reflects the **ongoing political transition** and current **factual control** of Gedo by the federal government. The status of Gedo as a "region under Jubaland" is no longer uncontested, and therefore the Wikipedia entry should reflect the **disputed and dynamic reality** rather than present it as a settled matter.
This change was not made as an act of personal opinion or original research, but rather based on:
- Official statements from the Federal Government of Somalia.
- Reliable news coverage from Somali media and international sources.
- Direct military and administrative actions by the Somali government on the ground.
I would be happy to provide citations and references from credible sources to support this update, including:
1. [Caasimada.net - Federal Government explores new Gedo strategy](https://www.caasimada.net/xog-df-oo-kala-dooraneysa-3-tallaabo-oo-kiiska-jubaland-ay-ku-wajihi-karto)

### Request:
I respectfully request that the Wikipedia page on Gedo be updated to reflect the **current political status and federal presence**, acknowledging that Gedo is a **disputed region** and currently under **direct federal administration**, with **active efforts to establish it as a federal member state**.
Please advise me on any format requirements or additional references you may need to validate this change. I am committed to ensuring that the information on Wikipedia remains neutral, verifiable, and in line with Wikipedia's core content policies.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding.
Sincerely, Xaliimo123 (talk) 11:31, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
Gedo
[edit]Hello @Materialscientist,
Thank you for your message and for your attention to the edit I made regarding the Gedo region.
I understand and respect Wikipedia’s policy on avoiding original research. Please note, however, that the changes I made were not based on personal opinion or unsourced speculation. They reflect a current and well-documented political reality in Somalia, where the Federal Government has publicly declared and enforced administrative control over the Gedo region, particularly in Beled-Xaawo, and has explicitly distanced itself from recognizing Jubaland’s authority over the area.
To avoid misunderstanding, I am gathering a list of reliable sources that directly address this federal position and the evolving status of Gedo. These include government statements and widely cited news outlets within Somalia. For example:
- [Caasimada.net – Federal Government exploring new Gedo administration strategy](https://www.caasimada.net/xog-df-oo-kala-dooraneysa-3-tallaabo-oo-kiiska-jubaland-ay-ku-wajihi-karto) - [Goobjooge.net – Federal forces take control of Beled-Xaawo](https://www.goobjooge.net/wararkii-ugu-danbeeyay-ee-gedo-c-rashiid-janan-oo-ka-laabtay-beled-xaawo-ciidamada-dowladda-oo-la-wareegay) - [Shabelle Media – Fighting after NISA reshuffle in Gedo](https://shabellemedia.com/dagaal-culus-oo-ka-dhacay-beled-xaawo-kadib-markii-la-keenay-taliyaha-cusub-ee-nisa-gedo)
These articles reflect concrete actions by the federal government and a shift in administrative control that should be acknowledged in the Gedo article, at minimum in a “Controversy” or “Dispute” section if full status change is not yet accepted.
I will revise the content to better reflect these sources and avoid synthesis or speculative language. I appreciate your guidance and remain committed to contributing constructively to Wikipedia.
Best regards,
Xaliimo123 (talk) 12:36, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
Gedo
[edit]Dear Wikipedia Administrator,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to respectfully appeal the reversion of my recent edits to the Gedo Region Wikipedia article, which were reverted on the grounds of containing “original research.” I understand and fully respect Wikipedia’s policies on verifiability and the prohibition of unpublished material.
However, I would like to clarify that my edits were based entirely on recent, verifiable, and reliable sources from July and August 2025, reflecting the ongoing political and military developments in the Gedo region—specifically the federal government’s control of Beled-Xaawo and related clashes with Jubbaland forces.
To ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s sourcing standards, I have included multiple citations from reputable media outlets that document the following:
The arrival of federal government-appointed security commanders in Beled-Xaawo.
Armed conflict between federal and Jubbaland-aligned forces.
Statements from the Somali federal cabinet confirming federal military presence in Gedo.
Confirmation of control shifts in Beled-Xaawo and the political significance of these actions.
Below are a few reliable sources supporting the edits:
1. Hiiraan Online (31 July 2025) – Somali Cabinet praises federal troops in Gedo region Link
2. AllAfrica / Shabelle Media (22 July 2025) – Heavy fighting erupts in Beled-Xaawo
Link
3. Mustaqbal Media (31 July 2025) – Federal forces take control of Beled-Xaawo
Link
4. Hiiraan Online (28 July 2025) – Clashes erupt in Gedo amid federal–Jubbaland struggle
Link
These articles explicitly verify the claims made in the updated version of the Gedo article, particularly the shift in administrative and security control over Beled-Xaawo, a topic highly relevant to the article’s subject matter.
I respectfully request a review of the reversion and reconsideration of the content based on the verified sources provided above. I am also happy to revise any language or formatting issues to align with Wikipedia standards.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'm not sure what beef this IP hopper has with the Ammar Siamwalla article, but they very much appear to be WP:NOTHERE, and intent only on disruptively removing content. Apparently they've also made a lot of edits to several Indian diaspora articles (e.g. Chindians, Indians in Japan, Indians in Korea, Indians in Thailand), but though almost all of the edits were removal of content, on the surface the edit summaries seemed reasonable. Given their behaviour in the Ammar article, though, perhaps further scrutiny is needed on their edits. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:44, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

2025-08-22 in 2025 Pacific typhoon season: changes the direct link National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting to the British spelling redirect National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. (diff)
One may think it isn't right to change the spelling of word "center/re" in the name of the NCHMF; but please take a look at the header banner at https://nchmf.gov.vn/KttvsiteE/en-US/2/index.html. The same is true for https://mod.gov.vn/en, for the spelling of "defense/ce" in the name of the ministry. Albanian people’s army
[edit]dear material scientists I would like to discuss the Albanian people’s army pages that it does not reflect the full strength of the Albanian people’s army at that time for example in 1991 it was listed to have 48000 active troops However through some very extensive research I found out that the number should be around 61 000 and not to mention that article also does not state that the Albanians also produced the TIP 57 a Albanian copy of the Chinese copy of the RPG 7 and does not mention that Albania produced the Dshk M Unitedred star (talk) 01:19, 30 August 2025 (UTC)

Death of Sibnath Banerjee
[edit]There is a mistake on this page regarding the death of Sibnath Banerjee. As a historian, I research about trade union leaders in colonial Calcutta and I noticed that you posted that Sibnath Banerjee died in 1937. This can't be true. He was alive for sure during the Calcutta Corporation Employees' strike in 1945. In the 1940s he was also a member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly. If you want I can forward you some documents attesting these. 203.115.108.70 (talk) 07:41, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

Photography
[edit]You appear to be one of the top editors listed for the Wikipedia Photography article. I've recently looked at the B&W and Monochrome articles for Wikipedia and they did not look very well maintained. It seems that the Photography article also has multiple issues; do you have any interest or ideas for how to improve it or make it better. For example, I'm finding that the lede at Photography does not even match the article; it seems to end with a mention of the digital impact, which covers only about half the article. Any thought? Possible sockpuppet?
[edit]I noticed that you blocked Shigeon12 but didnt link to any sockmaster, instead using the generic {{checkuserblock-account}}. I suspect that Adrian7790, Sugionaldo7, Greeners27, and Rakabuming Rakatokan may be socks, as all of them show the same editing interest on Persebaya Surabaya-related articles, with their edits limited only to that topic. Notably, Greeners27 was just created today and his first edit was to block my PROD on an article created by Shigeon12. How should I proceed to file an SPI in this case? - Sorry to ask again, but I just noticed a pattern in the editing behavior. Given the recent focus on Indonesian soccer–related articles, I suspect that Shigeon12 may be another sock of Jellywings19. Could you please look it up, and if confirmed, we can link all of the above socks to Jellywings19. Thank you. Ckfasdf (talk) 17:10, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

IP 2600:4040:2dca:1e00:e671:a363:289:cf77
[edit]Hi Materialscientist. Could you take a look at Special:Contributions/2600:4040:2dca:1e00:e671:a363:289:cf77? For some reason, this IP account has redirected the articles Yellowbeard and Yellow Bear to Five Nights at Freddy's. I've reverted the redirects, but the IP also created Draft:Yellowbear and Draft talk:Yellowbear. It's possible the IP wants to try and create a new article about something (e.g. a character) that's part of the Five Night's at Freddy's gameverse, but just doesn't know how to go about doing so. I'm not sure if any additional cleanup is needed after undoing the redirects. The IP also changed the redirect of Golden Freddy , but I don't know anything about that particular subject.
FWIW, I only came across this because the non-free file being used in the main infobox of the Yellowbeard article got flagged by a bot for violating WP:NFCC#9. I'm also asking you about this because you'd already reverted the IP once before at "Yellow Bear". -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:43, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking a look at this abd deleting those two draft pages. Apparently, the same person has jumped to IP 2600:4040:2dca:1e00:d3a9:7a71:96ca:dc1a, but that account was blocked for 31 hours by Fathoms Below. What's the next step if they decide to come back and repeat the same behavior? -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:09, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly I checked the /64 range and it seems like the vandalism was mostly coming from that one range, and so I re-blocked it for a week since some other admins had previously blocked the range too. If you see vandalism like this that seems to be one person coming from a specific IP range, I would suggest doing an AIV report and list the edits that you see coming from that range and an admin will do a rangeblock. But if it seems like multiple IPs coming from different locations and are not just a single person on a limited /64 range, a report to WP:RFPP to protect the affected pages might work. I'm not the most technically inclined person, so maybe just asking for help at a relevant noticeboard might get you some better advice hopefully. Fathoms Below (talk) 22:30, 21 September 2025 (UTC)

Hyphen-minus article
[edit]Hi Materialscientist! I just noticed continued disruption being made to the Hyphen-minus article and applied temporary semi-protection in order stop it. Looking at the page log for June 22, I noticed that you added semi-protection, then changed it to extended-confirmed protection, then changed it again to be template protection despite it not being a template. I was curious and wanted to ask why you set that particular protection level in the end. I see in the edit history that sock puppet disruption was happening during the time, so I understand the semi-protection followed by the change to extended-confirmed protection. I'm just scratching my head and wondering why you applied template protection. What made you apply this protection level? :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:54, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

- Is a simple Proxy/VPN checkmark from IPQualityScore really enough for a block under WP:NOP, when it's a residential IP with continuous editing for a month and no flags from Spur? That doesn't match the normal profile of a residential proxy, but rather of someone whose mobile IP was at some point in the past used by a bad actor. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 06:03, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, unblocked. Indeed, this might be a stuck shadow from a past proxy activity. Materialscientist (talk) 06:58, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

Reverted edit
[edit]You recently reverted an edit so that the page now says that the NSP won 1 seat in the 1918 UK general election and then lists two winners. All I was trying to do was provide a hint of an explanation as to why, but you decided that this would not be a positive thing to do. I have no intention of trying again: your decision to maintain the problem without any explanation means it falls to you to make sure that page is consistent in itself and with the various pages linked in the 1918 section (both the overall results and the individual pages on the constituencies and candidates, which were the sources for my edit). Good luck - I am sure you can find wording and sources that will satisfy you. 2A00:23C6:1492:7A01:93D:977A:8EC7:5E36 (talk) 20:36, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

Similar potential sockpuppet IP range
[edit]Hi Materialscientist, I hope you can respond to this message soon. Basically the IP address of 124.217.189.70 (talk | contribs) has relentlessly been moving drafts to different titles over and over again (in this case, Draft:Tropical Storm Matmo (2025) and Draft:Tropical Storm Matmo). The only thing that they did is repeatedly redirecting, changing the date format and spelling variations, even changing the short description though I had changed it before to match the normal desc conventions. Moreover, the range, 124.217.189.0, is similar to a marked potential sock in the above topic Block evading proxy-blocked IP, which included 124.217.188.0. This action is abusive and increasingly disruptive. You should block this IP address, or maybe the entire IP range if crucial, even though many people did not make any mistakes at all.
I know that you are busy, or possibly very busy, but try to respond as soon as possible. I will make sure I reply back to you once you have done that. Thank you! EmperorChesser 10:33, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Matmo
[edit]Hello Materialscientist. If in case you got time to investigate, you'll probably find that EmperorChesser was lying above. It was MAS0802 who moved the draft to a different title (and the rationale was a valid one), and that there has been no edit which involves the changing of all dates en masse in the article from dmy to mdy or the other way round. What happened was in fact the creation and maintenance of a fork of a draft, which is remarkably outdated and at one point contained wikilinks to disambiguation pages. 124.217.188.188 (talk) 19:04, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
